The Elements

Our heroes' powers are derived from mana, a liquid that flows within people's bloodstream and binds their souls to their bodies. This mana can be drawn out and changed to become a usable form of energy to be used in various elemental attacks. However, using too much mana would kill a person by destroying the bond between the soul and the body.

People on Terra normally have a speck or so of mana, because that is all that is needed to bind a soul to a body. However, our heroes except for Van absorbed a whole drop of mana each, which fundamentally changed their bodies. They not only had immensely more mana to form more powerful attacks, but their bodies became able to produce mana.

When mana is changed to form the energy for the attacks, how it is changed depends on the person. A person can change the energy to form attacks of any element, but each person's body is attuned to a certain element or elements. As such, it is easier to use abilities of one element than another.

There are six main elements in the world: Light, Fire, Ice, Sky, Earth, and Darkness. Mixtures of these elements provide the Hybrids: Holy, Water, Lunar, Thunder, Gravity, and Star.
